<p>Premier B school of India, Indian Institutes of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, has retained its position in the top 20 programmes globally as per ranking of Financial Times Master in Management(MiM) Ranking -2015
In its latest rankings the institute is placed at 15th position one level up from its last year's position of 16th in the global ranking while Calcutta and Bangalore have been ranked 16th and 26th places respectively.
IIM Calcutta has moved down from last year's 13th position.
University of St Gallen Switzerland ranked in the first position while HEC Paris and Essec Business School from France ranked second and third respectively.
IIM-A was ranked number one worldwide on placement-related criteria, such as salary, employed at three months, and company internships. The institute was also top ranked in "faculty with doctorates" with 100 per cent of IIMA faculty meeting that metric.
“Rankings are useful for benchmarking how we are doing compared to peer institutions. We are also committed to increasing the diversity of the IIMA community and have taken specific steps, including introduction of supernumerary seats for international students and revisions to our admissions process towards achieving this objective," said the director of IIM-A.
Ironically in the first ten rank not a single institute form Asia figured in the list. IIM- A is only institute from Asia to figure first in the ranking.
Importantly British and French business schools especially continue to dominate, accounting for 42 per cent of ranked institutions. The number of British schools rose by two to 13, while French schools were up by three, taking the total to 21. While French schools are distributed across the ranking, British schools are mostly in the bottom half, with nine out of 13 ranked 49 or below. Only London Business School (sixth) and Warwick Business School (23rd) moved up the ranking.
The MiM ranking is based on data collected from two surveys — one of the participating business schools and the other of alumni who graduated three years ago (the class of 2012). The ranking is in part based on how successful alumni have been in their careers, as reflected in salary data.
