According to a report, it has been found that on an average, women across the world work 39 more days a year as compared to men. And speaking of India specifically, the numbers are different. In India, women work 50 days extra than men.

Interestingly, according to studies and surveys conducted by the World Economic Forum (WEF), the Global Gender Gap report highlights the fact that females work for 50 minutes more a day than males globally. The study also revealed that the existence of unpaid work is a driving factor that burdens women and it could take about 170 years before gender equality in terms of work can be achieved between the two sexes.

Statistics disclose that men work for more hours as compared to women in six countries across the world. Out of these six, three countries are such where parental leave can be shared evenly between men and women. This not only allows families to plan their leaves but to also fit having children without compromising on their careers and to share responsibilities.

Women are engaged in doing more of the unpaid work such as housework, taking care of children and the elderly etc. Men, on the other hand, indulge in 34 percent more paid work as compared to women. However, if one would consider the unpaid labour/work that a woman puts in, it is found that women work for over a month more than men in a particular year. This data point holds true for countries like India, Portugal and Estonia.
