Goa to Host 3rd Edition of SCI-FFI, a Science Film Festival from January 16
- School students across Goa can participate in Science Film Making competition as a part of SCI-FFI 2018.
- Students can take the themes on any aspect related to science pursued in Goa.
Goa College of Art, Entertainment Society of Goa, Vidnyan Parishad and Department of Science and Technology (Goa) will jointly host the third edition of Science Film Festival (SCI-FFI) from January 16 to January 19, 2018, at Goa.
Giving details about the SCI-FFI, the organisers of the event revealed that the major highlight of SCI-FFI 2018 would be Science Film Making Competition. School students across the state can participate in the competition. Students can compete for two categories, i.e., short films within the duration of five minutes and short films of more than five-minute duration.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the best entries under the following categories: -
- Best Short Film
- Best Direction
- Best Research Presentation
- Best Cinematography
- Best Editing
- Best Design
The major motive of the Science Film Making Competition is to boost the culture of science films in the country. All the films submitted to the jury should be based on science and technology. Students can take the themes on any aspect related to science pursued in Goa such as notable personalities from the field of science, analysis or innovations and research.

It is not mandatory to shoot the short films by using a digital camera. The students can shoot the film on their mobile phone on any topic of science. The short films can be in any language and the films that are not in the English language should have subtitles.
During the opening ceremony of the event on January 16, 2018, a total prize money of Rs. 1,00,000 will be given away to the winners in the above-mentioned categories.
