Golden Beaver Award for Best Documentary given to 17-year-old Lucknow Boy

Lucknow’s Aditya has been honoured with the Golden Beaver Award for his documentary on psychopaths at seventh National Science Film Festival, Kolkata. The 17-year-old has won the award for the second consecutive year.

Apart from the award, Aditya also received a prize money of Rs.50,000 as he was nominated through the category D i.e. films that are made by school students. In 2016, Aditya won the same award for his documentary Ants: A Tiny Creature.

Aditya is a class 12 student of the Manipal Public School. Ecstatic about his success for two years in a row, the young achiever informed that his film called 'Brain's Fault'.

His movie highlights the facts how the physical and biological condition of the human brain can make an individual a criminal before his birth. These individuals are also called psychopaths in medical science, Aditya added. Aditya’s motivation to make a documentary on this subject was triggered from the rising crime in the country.

The aim of Aditya’s 7 minutes 47 seconds- long documentary was to explain the behavior of psychopaths. He self-produced, directed and shot the film with an SLR camera. Though the cinematography and editing was handled by Aditya singlehandedly, his friends helped him in finishing the documentary.

The actors – Lokendra Tiwari, Shubham Singh, Pratimesh, Harshit Pandey, Abhishek Singh, Prashant Srivastav, and other in the firm were Aditya’s friends. The narration of the documentary was done by Tanmeet Singh, another one of Aditya’s friend.

Various documentaries were shortlisted for this category by eminent filmmakers, scientists, professors, media professionals. The film festival was hosted by the Birla Industrial and Technological Museums from February 14 to 18, 2017. Renowned Bollywood movie director, Madhur Bhandarkar presented the award to Aditya.
