Gorakhpur University Cancels Sociology and Maths Exam after Paper Leak Reports
Gorakhpur University B.Sc Maths and B.A. Sociology exams scheduled for 17th April 2018 have been canceled.
The fresh dates for both the exams will be out on 19th April 2018.
The Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University has canceled the B.Sc Part 1 Maths and B.A. Part 2 Sociology exams scheduled for 17th April 2018 after the authorities found out that the question papers of both the exams were leaked on social media. The Maths exam was to take place from 8 am to 11 am while the sociology exam was scheduled between 2 pm to 5 pm on Tuesday, 17th April.
The administration received reports of B.Sc Part 1 Mathematics paper leak. However, the Sociology questions that went viral on social media did not match the paper set by the university. The questions of the leaked sociology paper were based on previous years papers. The administration nonetheless took the decision of canceling both the exams.

Students of the Gorakhpur University protested outside the university administrative office following the cancelation of the exams. According to the students, it is entirely the university’s fault and hence they want the suspension of the Controller of Examinations - Amrendra Singh.

The administration will lodge a First Information Report (FIR) with the police regarding the exam and will also set up an inquiry committee to look into the matter. VK Singh, Vice Chancellor of the varsity also wrote to the district magistrate to investigate the case and take serious action against the people responsible for the leak. According to him, such incidents spoil the decorum and sanctity of the examination system.
The fresh dates for both exams will be released on 19th April 2018.
