Government Coaching for NEET 2017 Aspirants a Big No: Tamil Nadu Education Department
Few months back, Tamil Nadu Government had committed to provide special coaching for the students appearing in JEE 2017 & NEET 2017.
A few months back, the Tamil Nadu Government had committed to provide special coaching to the students appearing in the medical and engineering entrances, especially those appearing for the Joint Entrance Exam 2017 (JEE 2017) and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test 2017 (NEET 2017). But now the government is dithering from its commitment.
Former Education Minister, K. Pandiarajan announced to offer a digital tutoring platform for the students of government-aided schools of the state. The move was supposed to benefit 10,000 students across the state.

On the status of the tutoring initiative, an official of the school education department said that no such efforts have been taken by them. Principal Secretary to the school education department, D. Sabitha said that government is not providing any coaching to students appearing in NEET 2017.
An education expert said that coaching programmes for the students is a conflict of interest with the state government. The state government is totally against allocating seats of the medical colleges through NEET 2017. The Supreme Court (SC) had given an exemption to the state for one year and this year the exam will be conducted as per the schedule. Students of the state will be at the receiving end.

He further said that teachers from corporation schools in Chennai do not even have the means to prepare students for NEET, and the exam is mandatory to appear in, for the students willing to secure a seat in the medical colleges of the state. The syllabus for the examination is based on CBSE course, which they are not completely familiar with.
Students from the marginal backgrounds cannot afford private coaching. Teachers are doing their best to help theses students, said a Head Mistress of a corporation school in Chennai.
