UPSEE is being carried out not only to fill engineering seats but also Architecture and Pharmacy courses. There are 1.16 lakh engineering seats in various affiliated colleges of AKTU.

Earlier, AKTU had requested the government regarding holding all-India examination for engineering courses on the lines of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET).

Recently, AKTU has also announced that the examination cell of the varsity is going to evaluate the answer scripts of semester examinations digitally. The semester examinations commenced on December 7, 2016. It is expected that the varsity will evaluate around 20,000 answer scripts digitally. The candidates can also get the photocopy of answer script under Right to Information (RTI). The varsity took this initiative to avoid any discrepancies while evaluating the answer and declaration of results.

On the other hand, the varsity also issued OMR Verification Cards to the students during the semester exams to avoid impersonation. It means the candidates have to fill an OMR card where the candidates have to enter their roll number, answer sheet code, and question paper code. The varsity adopted various steps to bring transparency in holding examinations.
