This Women’s Day, Government Schools will Hand Over the Reign of the Classes to Girls
Not only Government schools but UGC Universities and colleges affiliated to them will celebrate this year's Women's Day in a unique way.
The Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) has suggested all the Government schools and colleges to appoint girls as class monitors on the 08th of March, i.e International Women’s Day. This year’s International Women’s Day’s theme is - I am Generation Equality: Realizing Women’s Rights.
This year’s Women’s Day Celebration will not only revolve around appointing girls as class monitors but several other activities revolving around achievers who were or are women. The Ministry has also suggested teaching only those topics which have a powerful female character at the centre of it. For eg - students will be taught only those topics in Social Studies in which women freedom fighters played a crucial role. Similarly, in literature and language classes, the students will be taught about women poets, women scientists in Science class and so on.
The schools can dedicate the morning assembly time to women achievers who contributed immensely in different fields. Special activities like group songs and plays can also be organised by the schools along with awarding those girl students who have performed exceedingly well in ECA, sports, academics etc. Schools can also expect women professionals from varied fields visiting them and interacting with their students.
