Govt. Gives its Nod for 4000 PG Medical Seats form 2017-18 Session
More than 4,000 PG medical seats have been approved by the government in several medical colleges and hospitals. The seats in these colleges will be increased from the session 2017-18.
More than 4,000 PG medical seats have been approved by the government in several medical colleges and hospitals. The seats in these colleges will be increased from the academic year 2017-18.
Out of these 4000 PG seats, 2,046 seats will be added to medical colleges. After the addition of these seats, the number of PG medical seats will rise up to 35,117.
The government is also planning to increase the number of teachers in medical colleges. With the increase in medical seats, more teachers will be required to maintain the required student to teacher ratio.

More teachers will be hired in government medical colleges to teach students enrolled in clinical PG courses.
With the addition of seats, 1,137 seats will be increased in just 71 colleges. There are a total of 212 government medical colleges and many of these colleges are looking forward to sending proposals for increasing at least 1000 more seats. These seats will probably be added till March 2017.
The number of seats in Diplomate National Board (DNB) – that are considered to be equivalent to MD/MS – have been raised by 2,147 in the last one year.
According to the records, a total of 4,193 PG seats have been increased across medical colleges in the country. Aspirants can also expect another 1000 seats that will most likely be added during March 2017.

With this, the government aims to achieve the Budget announcement of adding 5,000 PG medical seats to various medical colleges in the country.
