Gujarat Girl with 80% Vision Loss Makes it to IIM Ahmedabad - Read her Story Here!

Prachi Sukhwani, a 21-year-old girl is now a source of inspiration for all the girls who aspire to pursue management course at the premier b-schools of India. Despite being visually impaired, she bagged a seat in one of the reputed b-schools of India, i.e., Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
Prachi Sukhwani has been suffering from retinal degradation or macular dystrophy since she was in Class III. Over the years, she lost 80% vision. Later, her parents came to know that there was no treatment for this genetic disorder. However, Prachi completed BBA from Faculty of Commerce, Maharaja Sayajirao University. Later, she appeared for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 and secured 98.55 percentile.

The ultimate goal of Prachi is to start her own venture after gaining some experience. Initially, she wants to work in a reputed multinational company, acquire requisite skills and experience. Her long-term goal is to open a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) for the blind.
Prachi Sukhwani’s father runs a garment business. He revealed that he used to take his daughter to Chennai for frequent checkups. The doctors had suggested her to wear special reading glasses. However, her dedication and commitment towards education are exceptional. She faced all the difficulties and challenges and made it to one of the top most premier b-schools of India.

Prachi’s mother is a homemaker as well as LIC Agent and her elder sister is pursuing MBA in Mumbai.
On April 10, 2017, Prachi took the last exam of BBA course. Her friends, faculty, management people and students congratulated her. She was appreciated for her courage and dedication towards education. She is a source of inspiration to all the girls who are currently suffering from various disabilities.
