Gujarat University Postpones Convocation Ceremony
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is supposed to grace the Convocation Ceremony in Gujarat, and due to his unavailability on January 10, 2017, the convocation has been postponed.
M.N. Patel, Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University, revealed that the annual convocation of varsity which is scheduled to take place on January 10, 2017, has been postponed. VC said that the new date would be announced soon.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has to grace the occasion, and due to his unavailability on January 10, 2017, the convocation has been postponed. However, the VC did not announce the date for holding convocation ceremony. Sources say that Rajnath Singh has an emergency engagement on the scheduled date and he is unable to attend the ceremony.

Earlier, the convocation ceremony of Gujarat University was scheduled to take place in the last week of November. Vice-Chancellor of the varsity said that Rajnath Singh would deliver the convocation address and he would and go to Delhi to invite him personally. But the Convocation ceremony has now been postponed due to Rajnath Singh's unavailability in the month of November 2016. Therefore, it was postponed to January 10, 2017, and now has gotten postponed again.

As per UGC, all the varsities must hold the convocation in the month of November or else students will face difficulty in obtaining degree certificates further.
Gujarat University has already completed the online or offline registration process for the convocation ceremony. Students who wish to receive degrees registered their names on the official site. However, the students have to wait some more days to receive their degrees.
