Gujarat University Takes Note of Students’ Hardships Regarding Fee Payment
The varsity has directed all the colleges to issue hall tickets even if the students did not pay the examination fee.
M.M. Patel, Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University, gave a sign of relief to students by announcing that no students will be denied to take the examination just because they had failed to pay the fees for the second term. The VC has taken the grievances of the students into consideration as most of the students were unable to pay the examination fee due to demonetization of Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes. Students expressed that they were unable to exchange the notes due to a long queue at the banks. On the other hand, most of the students fail to withdraw money from ATMs due to heavy rush. They thanked the Vice Chancellor for considering their grievances.

Mr. Patel also indicated that the colleges could accept cheques from the students.
A similar situation has been reported in Telangana where the college managements are denying Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes. The semester examinations for engineering courses are scheduled to begin in a week, and most of the students did not pay the examination fee. They were facing hardship to withdraw money from ATMs due to heavy rush. So far, the government has not taken any decision regarding the issue. The Board of Intermediate has extended the date for fee payment until November 21, 2016, for students.
