<p>The Union Human Resource Development Ministry has decided to hold the first International Summit on Education in Gandhinagar, capital of Gujarat, in November 2015. Education ministers and in charge from more than 180 countries are expected to participate in the summit. Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar, which has capacity of 15,000 seat will be the venue for the summit. “PM Narendra Modi is expected to inaugurate the summit. Though the summit is being organized by the HRD Ministry, but the Gujarat government is providing all infrastructure and logistical support for the summit”, said a top official of Gujrat Government.</p>
<p>“There is a growing demand to create a linkage between education and the industry. Industry and Research has to go hand in hand. Initiatives such as ‘Make in India’ and ‘Skills India’ and ‘Start-up India, Stand up India’ etc. require education to keep pace with the demands of the markets. The summit is going to clear road for the future,” added the same official.</p>
<p>The two-day summit will have several rounds of seminars related to various aspects of education. The theme of the summit will be to discuss on topics like role of the private sector in providing quality education and research, how the government can facilitate private sector participation etc.</p>
<p>Besides the foreign delegates, scholars from Central Universities, Indian Institutes of Technology and Indian Institutes of Management and specialists from the field of research and development will participate in the summit. It is to be noted that when PM Modi was Chief Minister of Gujarat, the idea for the education summit was mooted while stressing to make the country and the state as the “education and research capital of the world”.</p>
