The Delhi High Court has rejected a plea seeking to change the date of the re-examination of the Class 12 economics board exam. The hearing took place on 16 April 2018. CBSE had earlier decided to re-conduct the examination on April 25 after the paper was leaked.

Justice C Hari Shankar and Chief Justice Gita Mittal rejected the plea which was filed by NGO Suniye. As per the NGO, CBSE shall shift the re-exam date or make the exam optional because it is clashing with other entrance exams such as National Defence Academy (NDA) and various entrance tests for engineering. Other than this, the court was hearing two different pleas related to Class 10 mathematics paper of CBSE.

Another plea by a group of students was to re-conduct the class 10 mathematics paper. However, the court was advised by the CBSE that it cannot afford to re-conduct the examination as it is not easy to make 16 lakh student appear in it again. The reasons given by the board regarding not to conduct class 10 maths exam were found valid by the court.

As per CBSE, the scientific evaluation of random answer sheets did not show any unusual pattern of the alleged paper leak. The leak of the Class 10 maths and Class 12 economics question papers has affected lakhs of students across the country.
