HDFC Listed in World’s Top 10 Consumer Financial Service Companies

Forbes list of the top 10 companies in the consumer financial services sector now comprises the name of HDFC Ltd. American Express was ranked first in the list.

HDFC was ranked 7th in the list and is the sole Indian company named by Forbes in this category. Among the others are Capital One, Visa and MasterCard.

HDFC was also named in Forbes ‘Global 2000’ list of the largest and most powerful public companies. It was among the top 10 Indian companies that were mentioned in the list whereas globally it ranked 275.

A total of 56 Indian Companies were mentioned in the list. Among these were the names of 22 public sector lenders in the regional banks category. At the top of the heap was State Bank of India, with a global rank of 149 on the list.

Global 2000 list was composed with the help of data provided by FactSet Research systems to evaluate the biggest public companies with respect to the following four attributes: sales, profits, assets and market value.

The market value calculation was last done on 22nd April, 2016 closing prices and includes all common shares outstanding.

List of Public Sector Lenders in the Regional Bank Category of Forbes Global 2000:

Chinese banks lead the Global 2000 list, maintaining their hold on the top of the list. Among these companies are the three Chinese lenders, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, China Construction Bank and Agricultural Bank of China.
