Now the members of the committee are looking into the matter whether the proposed institutes will be tagged minority or not. Also, the committee will decide whether or not 40 percent reservation of the seats should be provided for girl students.

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, Union Minority Affairs Minister who chaired the meeting said that the proposed institutes would impact the education of students belonging from both the minority and non-minority communities. The Government is keen to start the work related to these institutes within the next three-four months. These institutes would be completely autonomous.

The minister had earlier said that the character of these institutes would not be completely devoted to the minority communities. He also said that about 40 to 50 percent seats of these institutes would be reserved for the girl students so that they are also empowered in education. The experts will discuss the issues from the different perspectives.

The minister also suggested that to start Garib Nawaz skill development centres in the campuses of the Institute. The matter will further be discussed with University Grant Commission. Several states like Haryana and Rajasthan have already offered land for establishing such centres in their states.
