Ramesh Pokhriyal, HRD Minister Launches Higher Education Leadership Development Programme
The programme has been designed as a joint venture of British Council and UGC, under the UKIERI (UK India Education and Research Initiative). The program aims to develop leadership among the senior level and the middle-level administrators at the Indian universities.
On Wednesday, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, the Union Minister of Human Resource & Development launched the Higher Education Leadership Development Programme for Administrator. The programme has been designed as a joint venture of British Council and UGC, under the UKIERI (UK India Education and Research Initiative). The program aims to develop leadership among the senior level and the middle-level administrators at the Indian universities.

During the program launch event, Ramesh Pokhriyal said that this is a unique program in India which will be dedicated to developing the leadership for mid and senior-level administrators in Indian universities. He further added that the program will contribute as a major step towards the government’s aim to achieve a better and quality education system in Indian universities.
The leadership development program will include two workshops under which the UK trainers will train about 300 administrators at the Registrar and Joint/Assistant/Deputy Registrar level. The main aim of the training will be to enable the academic administrators to use renewable approaches, tools, skills, and capacity to bring professional transformation in academics.

UGC (University Grants Commission) will be conducting the leadership development program in collaboration with the Advance HE. The collaboration of UGC will be as the training partner with leadership excellence from the UK and globally recognized institutional expertise, enabled by the British Council in India.
