Govt. to Increase Seats in Higher Educational Institutes by 2024: Ram Nath Kovind

President Ram Nath Kovind has announced that the government is planning to increase the number of seats in the higher educational institutions by one and a half times by the year 2024. He added that the Government also plans to improve the opportunities for Indian Students to get higher education.

In a Joint sitting of both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, President Ram Nath Kovind has stated that the government is focusing on increasing the number of seats in the higher educational institutions in the next five years. As per sources, he stated that the goal is to increase the number of seats by 1 and a half times by 2024.

President Ram Nath Kovind also stated that a “National Research Foundation” will be set up to boost the research projects that are being undertaken at the higher educational institutions. The President states that the establishment of the foundation will help in bridging the gap between various departments of the Government with other higher educational & industrial institutions as well as science laboratories.

He further announced that the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme will also commence as “it is the duty of the government to provide the students with quality education, opportunities as well as the environment for the purpose of enhancing the overall quality of the education system. He also stated that the government has created an objective to increase the number of seats in higher educational institutions. Sources state, that this will result in an additional 2 crore seats will be added to the existing number of seats.

The President stated that in order to help Indian Higher Educational Institutions to rank among the top 500 educational institutions in the world, the government will be promoting autonomy as well as granting financial assistance. He also added that the government aims to attract children at an early stage, towards Technology with the help of appropriate infrastructure and facilities.

Among the other reformations that the government has made for the purpose of improving the quality education as well as increasing the opportunities for people to avail the mentioned education without much worry, Ram Nath Kovind stated that the with the help of Atal Innovation Mission, many educational institutions have been provided with laboratories and facilities to help the children be attracted to technology, such as Atal Tinkering Labs in over 9,000 schools and Atal Incubation Centres in more 100 Universities and institutions across India.

The President also stated that the government has also provided the students with various reservation quota, financial support, increase in the number of seats in different educational institutions as well as increasing the number of scholarships available for the students to avail.
