Highest Packages at IIT 2016: Microsoft Rolls Offers up to 1.5 Crore

Technology giant Microsoft has created quite a buzz for itself amongst the students with the high packages and offers it rolled out at IITs during the placement season 2016. On the day one, Microsoft had hired five students who were offered jobs based in the US as well as within the country. The packages offered for US-based positions were close to 1 crore.

Microsoft has made these eight digit offers at IIT Roorkee and IIT Guwahati on the first day. These are not the only campuses that the organization has hired from. Microsoft has also made lucrative offers at IIT Kanpur where it offered one of the students a package of 1.5 crore per annum. The student belonged to Delhi and was offered a position at Redmond, Headquarters of Microsoft where he will be working on software designing, implementation and removal of bugs.

Companies that offered highest salaries:

Among other companies that made offers worth a crore were Oracle, Goldman Sachs and Blackstone. Goldman Sachs offered packages ranging from Rs.25 to 30 lakhs and selected seven students.

The first day was mostly crowded with companies from the engineering and financial sector. Some PSUs such as ONGC were also seen hiring at IIT Bombay. Whereas on the second day, IT, consultancy and analytics sector ruled the campus placements and high packages were offered by analytics companies.

The number of offers made in 2016 less than the number of offers that were made in 2016. However, the institutes are still hopeful that more companies will be visiting with great offers to hire the most talented students from the premier Indian Institutes. The first phase of placement at the IITs will continue till December 15.
