Hike in Applications from Indian Students for UK Universities
The number of students from India applying to UK universities for higher education has gone up. Reports inform that 6,210 students from India had to take up courses at the UK for this year. There is an overall hike of 5 per cent as compared to last year.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS), which is the UK's centralised university application system has revealed that 6,210 students from India have applied for higher education at UK universities by this year deadline of 30th June 2019. There has been an overall increase of 5 per cent as compared to last year. 5,890 applications were recorded last year
Not only has there been a rise in Indian applications but the latest UCAS figures also show Britain's wider appeal. There has been a hike in applications from within the European Union. As per the records, more than 10,000 European Union and overseas students have applied for applications at UK colleges and universities.
The UK universities and colleges are widely popular among both overseas and European Union because of quality education, faculty and experience they offer. There are various factors responsible for the increasing number of students willing to study in the UK. The faculty of the universities are among the world's best assuring the students of academic excellence. Out of the top 200 universities in the world, 29 of them are in the UK, including the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge.
The UK education system and its prestigious list of alumni are also one of the main reason for Indian students opting for UK universities. Around 38 per cent of the world's Nobel Laureates is from the UK as well.

One of the hindrance that students face while applying to the UK for higher studies is the restrictive visa regime. This is the reason that Indian diplomats have always stressed for a more welcoming immigration regime for Indian students so that more students can chase their dreams of pursuing higher education in the UK. One of the other problem faced by the Indian students in the UK is their treatment as immigrants which always tend to create negative perceptions in India regarding UK visa regime.
