Himachal Pradesh: Nadda Seeks Intervention of CM on NEET Admission Row
Nadda assured his full support to the state government from Centre.
Union Health Minister, JP Nadda directed the CM of Himachal Pradesh, Virbhadra Singh to resolve the issue regarding the denial of admission in MBBS course by Maharshi Markendeshwar Medical College (MMMC). The college allegedly denied admission to about 150 students recently and also demanded fee hike. The students had initially been selected through centralised counselling by the state government.

Nadda, in a written statement to the CM of Himachal Pradesh, mentioned that it is time for the government to take pro-active steps and complete the process of admission in a smooth manner without causing distress to students and their parents. He mentioned that the parents and students complained that the admission is not being given in MMMC according to the merit list prepared through centralised counselling.

He further added that it is the responsibility of the state government to fix the issue related to fee structure through a proper committee. Taking up the issue as the top priority, Nadda assured his full support to the state government from Centre.
Recently, the state government held talks with the authorities of the college. The talks did not yield a positive result. The government explicitly mentioned that it is highly impossible to increase the course fee as the counselling process has been completed. Later, parents approached High Court seeking action against the policy of the college management. Finally, Nadda intervened and assured that the issue would be resolved as early as possible.
