HRD Directs AICTE to Ensure Internships in Varied Fields of Agriculture
- AICTE is organizing internships for fields besides technical and industrial sectors. AICTE has agreed with Intershala to provide the students with better internships in various fields.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Satyapal Singh suggested All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) to urge colleges and higher education institutes to explore internships in various fields including agriculture, in order to lay emphasis on more job opportunities & enhance the employability of youth.
This initiative of AICTE affiliated institutes will help students to think outside the box, bring their focus on other fields besides technical know how & can help them learn new skills in future.
Mr. Satyapal Singh also said that internships in other fields including agriculture can help in the growth of the country as the country needs more than techniques and it will develop other fields besides industry. He continued by saying that efforts should be made for stating internship apart from technical, industrial sectors & professional subjects.
HRD lamented that the overemphasis on degrees and diploma has lowered the standard of education system in India and now everyone is running after this need and not focusing on the other fields in the education sector.

The Minister of HRD, in order to encourage the institutes to launch different internships, awarded the best technical institutes for their internship initiatives in an event organized in 2018. The top three institutes that were awarded included:
The event was organized to appreciate the institutes for their efforts in helping the students to secure their position in internships, during April-July 2018. Approximately 1500 schools are affiliated with the AICTE & more than 8000 students secured their seats in internships through Internshala, as part of the summer interships of 2018.

AICTE has signed the agreement with Intershala in order to provide internship to the students studying in colleges affiliated to it.
Intershala was founded by a graduate student Sarvesh Agarwal of IIT-Madras and it is an internship and training platform for students all over the country.
