HRD Ministry Releases Five-Year Vision Plan
The Ministry of Human Resource Development has conceived a 5-year vision plan for the higher educational institutions in India so as to promote reformations in the education system in India. The report has been created with the help of various experts from different disciplines for this purpose.
The Prime Minister of India had made a decision that requires all the departments of the Government to create a 5-year vision plan. Among which, the Department of Human Resource Development has released its 5-year vision plan. The plan will be called by the name of EQUIP or Education Quality Upgradation and Inclusion Programme.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development stated that the report was made with the help of experts who were the head of 10 different groups. The heads comprised of the senior academicians, industrialists as well as administrators, who together came up with more than 50 different initiatives that would reform the education sector entirely for the better.
Sources state the MHRD’s Five-year Vision plan has focused on major areas such as Assessment, Accreditation and Ranking Systems, Employability and Entrepreneurship, Internationalisation, Promotion of Excellence, Using Technology for Improving Reach, Governance Reforms among others.
Sources also state that the experts came up with several goals and objectives for the entire Higher Education sector among which the experts have set a goal for increasing the Gross Enrolment Ratio in all the higher education institutions, along with ironing out the geographically as well as the socially distorted admissions to the higher education institutions in India.

They have also planned to get at 50 of the Indian Higher Educational Institutions among the top 1000 institutions in the world. They have also included Governance reforms for all higher educational institutions with campuses that are well-administered. Along with these changes to the institutions, the experts also have asked to get the Higher Educational Institutions in India accreditated which will mark the quality of the institutions for the students. The Experts along with their groups have planned to put India in top three when it comes to becoming a hub of knowledge creation along with goals.

The groups and their experts have suggested some methods for the implementations of the new changes and strategies for the next five years. As of now, the vision plan will be under the scrutiny of the other departments where consultations, as well as appraisals for the 5-year plan, will take place with the help of the EFC Mechanism. Following this, the plan will be taken up with the Cabinet for its approval sources state.
