HRD Ministry May Formulate Common Hindi Teaching Scheme for Varsities
The move is likely to invite opposition and criticism from several state universities. Already, a group of students from various state varsities sent petitions to President of India, Pranab Mukherjee against the forceful imposition of Hindi.
As per the official statement that was given by HRD Ministry, a “Common Hindi Teaching Scheme” is likely to be implemented by higher education institutes and universities across the country soon. A Parliamentary Panel has made the recommendation in this regard and it needs to get the nod from the President of India to be further implemented.
In the same way, the varsities, which do not have a Hindi department, will be directed to establish one. On the other hand, students pursuing various courses in educational institutions and varsities particularly in non-Hindi states should be given the option of writing answers in their mother language.

According to a President order, the central and state governments have framed some laws through which some higher education institutions and universities will have only English as the medium of instruction. Both central and state governments have framed these laws with an objective to give autonomy in the field of higher studies. The order further clarified that a uniform policy must be followed in all parts of the country in this regard.

The order further directed the HRD Ministry to work out an action plan that implements Hindi teaching scheme in all higher educational institutes and universities. The ministry should also implement a common law in this regard and table it before the both Houses of Parliament.
