Giving response to the written question in Lok Sabha, Minister of State (HRD), Mr. Upendra Kushwaha confirmed that the government is not in favour of framing and implementing the common course in ICSE, CBSE and other state boards. The government has not prepared any proposal in this regard, he confirmed.

Adding further, Mr. Upendra pointed that implementing the uniform syllabus across the country would lead to many problems. Students will not be able to have awareness of local culture and language. Therefore, implementing uniform syllabus for all the boards is not the agenda of the government, he explained.

The ministry also confirmed that the government has no plan to shut down NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling).

Responding to another question, Mr. Upendra Kushwaha stated that neither the central government nor HRD Ministry is maintaining data pertaining to fake education boards functioning in the country. Recently, it has come to the notice of HRD Ministry that some of the educational boards across the country are functioning without proper approval and accreditation. The HRD Ministry has already informed state governments and police authorities to identify the fake education boards functioning in their respective jurisdictions, he explained.

The government will take strict action against the fake education boards for duping/ cheating the students. If identified, these fake boards will be closed with immediate effect. The HRD Ministry will maintain a centralised data of fake education boards based on the report submitted by the state governments and police authorities.
