The human resource development (HRD) ministry has set up a 13-member expert panel headed by former Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) N Gopalaswami to view on issues related to Sanskrit as part of its attempt to promote the language.
The committee would examine various issues related to the teaching of the language in the country and also on how to integrate the study of Sanskrit with other disciplines such as physics, chemistry, mathematics, medical science and law, and suggest changes in Sanskrit education in schools and universities.
HRD officials confirmed about its development and added that the committee has also been formed to chart out an action plan to develop Sanskrit language in the next 10 years.
NITI Aayog member Bibek Debroy, former government of India secretary VV Bhat, Delhi University professor Ramesh Bharadwaj, UGC chairman Ved Prakash chairman of National Skill Development Corporation Dr Ramadorai, and Chamu Krishna Shastri of the RSS-affiliated Samskrit Bharti, are among the other members in the committee, officials said.
The HRD ministry had earlier set up a panel for promotion of classical languages also.
