Under the action plan, there will be multiple tests like -
National level entrance test for the B.Ed course
Exit test for all B.Ed graduates
Certification of B.Ed colleges
- Compulsory induction programme for all government school teachers
Sharing the information, an official of HDR Ministry said that until and unless the quality of the teachers is improved, the school education will not advance in a desirable manner. Hence, the government is looking to find a way that will be a prolonged approach so that results can be achieved. He added that only bright and talented candidates should take the B.Ed course. B.Ed should not be the last resort for the candidates who fail to qualify in other entrance examinations.
An exit test will also ensure that these colleges produce quality teachers. Additionally, after joining the school after recruitment, the teachers will have to attend an orientation programme. Also, the quality of the teachers will be evaluated from time to time.
The attendance of the teachers in the schools will be ensured through a computer tablet which will come at a cost of INR 4,000 to INR 5,000 each. The order for the computer tablet will be placed by March. To implement the project, the ministry is in discussion with World Bank.
