The Ministry of Human Resources Development is thinking about making a specialised committee dedicated to conducting examinations that are currently organised by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

The central board, a few months ago, complained that it is not able to focus on its primary activities as it has to conduct various examinations that are not even school related. The activity of conducting so many examinations is a time consuming one and it does not allow the board to follow its main schedule.

The committee that will be set up by the HRD Ministry will conduct exams that are not related to school education and are conducted by CBSE like National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), National Eligibility Test (NET) etc etc.

The new body will have experts as members and it will conduct the examination via online mode. It will be modelled like the Educational Testing Service (ETS) of the USA which conducts highly specialised tests globally.

The Minister of HRD, Prakash Javadekar said that there have been times when the result of certain exams was delayed for months. So forming a specialised body will help provide timely exams, online testing and instant results.
