HRD Ministry Working towards Reducing Dependence on Coaching Centres

In an effort to reduce the dependence of students on coaching centres for the examinations, the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) is seeking feedback from various institutions that are responsible for conducting school and competitive examinations throughout the country.

Already the HRD ministry is seeking suggestions from several government institutions like-

• Union Public Service Commission (UPSC)
• Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
• Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

While sharing the information, an official of HRD Ministry said that the main aim of the Government of India is to arrange a devised pattern for school and competitive examinations so that the new system ensures that students are not dependent on coaching centres to clear these competitive examinations.

Sharing his concerns over the mushrooming growth of coaching institutes a high ranking official of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), said that the innovative methods of teaching that are devised by coaching centres on regular basis are the reasons why despite the efforts of government the dependence of aspirants on coaching centres have been increasing over the years. These coaching centres devise their classes in such a manner that at least some of the students attending the classes clear the examination.

Further, he also mentioned that the industry and business coaching centres are thriving because there are 32 school examination boards in the country, all having very different examination patterns. It makes it tough for students to prepare for the competitive examination on their own without the guidance of these coaching centres. Taking the advantage of the situation these coaching institutes are cashing in on.
