With an unending delay in counseling for admission and decision to reduce the number of seats, a hunger strike has been started by Delhi University law faculty aspirants.

In a report by the Bar Council of India (BCI), it was found that there will be a total of 8 sections with the three centers having 60 students each.

Therefore, the university will only be admitting 1440 students as it will now be following the norms set by BCI as it does not have any affiliation. Earlier, the university had promised of admitting 2,310 students.

Because of this, the admission counseling has also been delayed and a hunger strike has been started by the students to force the university to take up action regarding the same.

Gorav Arora, an aspirant from Faridabad says that they could not find a better option than this as the university as well as BCI was silent on the matter.

Members of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) have also decided to join them in the strike to pressurise Delhi University to take action and start with the admission process.

Students of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), a student wing of the Congress, have been on hunger strike since Friday regarding the same.

On the other hand, according to the dean of the faculty, SC Raina, the university will soon be taking the necessary action and it is working to get a solution regarding the same matter. He also said the issue has been there for many years and therefore is taking time to get sorted. The university will be taking decisions for the betterment and welfare of the students.
