Dattatreya Seeks Rs. 175 Crore Grant for Centenary Celebrations of Osmania University
He discussed the issues with the HRD Minister Javadekar who assured that the ministry would look into the matter and take a decision.
Labour Minister, Bandaru Dattatreya met the Union Minister of Human Resource and Development, Prakash Javadekar and requested him to grant Rs.175 crore for the centenary celebrations of Osmania University. He submitted a letter to the ministry on this regard. OU is going to celebrate its centenary year in a grand way which is likely to kick start in January 2017.

Dattatreya mentioned that Osmania University is going to observe 2017-18 as a centenary year. Hence, it is time to acknowledge the services rendered by the university to the nation building. He further added that the infrastructure of the varsity needs to be improved as per the growing needs. He discussed all these issues with the HRD Minister and Javadekar assured that the ministry would look into the matter and take the decision.

Osmania University was established in 1918. The varsity had been named after Osman Ali Khan, 7th Nizam of Hyderabad state who played a significant role in establishing the varsity. It is regarded as the seventh oldest university in India and third oldest in South India.
