ICAI Announces Digital Evaluation of CA Intermediate and Final Examination
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has made changes in the evaluation system of ICAI Intermediate and Final Exams. The CA Intermediate and Final exam answer sheets will be evaluated digitally to reduce variation in marking schemes and totalling errors.
In an announcement made by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), the answer sheets of Chartered Accountants Intermediate and Foundation Level exams will be evaluated digitally. The ICAI stated that the step has been taken to decrease the scope of variation in the marks by different examiners along with eradicating totalling mistakes.
In an ICAI release, the institute has asked the students to not believe any rants or outbursts, stating that the institute aims at fulling the concerns of its aspirants. They added that they have noticed the negative reports of the evaluation system for the CA answer sheets on social media. To combat this, they stated that they have set up certain reforms in terms of the examinations evaluation system of ICAI, which have also been brought to the attention of the ICAI stakeholders.

The release further announced the implementation of OMR-based evaluation of the final new course. The OMR-based evaluation has been effective since May 2019 under which, MCQ questions carrying 30 marks have been added to certain papers in the Intermediate and Final Exams. They added that the institute has decided to add the OMR-based evaluation for MCQ’s of Elective Papers from 6A to 6F of final new course from November 2019.

Another announcement made by the institute introduces a test for the evaluators. The Institute has stated that all evaluators will be asked to go through an online test every three years. The notification announced that the applicants for the post of evaluators are needed to clear an online test in the subject of their choice. Also, the existing members of the Panel of Examiners will also be required to pass the online test every three years in their respective subjects.
