ICSI Launches Full Fee Waiver Scheme, Benefits
ICSI launches 100% free-waiver scheme for students from J&K and Ladakh. The scheme will be effective from 1st September 2019. ICSI has also requested Shri Namgyal to facilitate setting up of ICSI Study Centre at the University of Ladakh.
With an aim to make professional education accessible for all, the regulator of CS profession in India has come up with tuition fee waiver The scheme will be applicable to the students from Jammu & Kashmir along with Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and North Eastern region for its CS Foundation and Executive programme. The scheme is applicable for candidates who wish to take admission to the Company Secretary (CS) Executive and the CS Foundation programmes.
With an aim to make professional education accessible and affordable for all, the regulator of Company Secretary (CS) profession in India, The Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), has waived fee for the students of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Andaman & Nicobar Islands and North Eastern region for its CS Foundation and Executive programme.
The Member of Parliament, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal stated that the initiative will ensure that the students from Ladakh are “brought to the mainstream”. The President of ICSI, CS Ranjeet Pandey announced that they hope to open doors of opportunity to the students from the area.
ICSI Free Waiver Scheme Eligibility
In order to avail the fee waiver scheme, the students will need to meet the eligibility for J&K and Ladakh fee waiver scheme at ICSI. The fee waiver scheme will be applicable to all the students from J&K who have completed and cleared their class 12 for CS Foundation programme and their bachelor’s degree or any other equivalent degree for CS Executive Programme.
As part of the eligibility criteria, the top three B.Com students from the University of Ladakh, who have been able to achieve the top marks in the degree examinations will also be eligible for the full fee waiver scheme which is payable at the time of registration for the admission to the CS executive programme of the institute.
The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has requested Namgyal to help in the establishment of an ICSI Study Centre at the University of Ladakh, so as to facilitate a connection with the students in the region.

The Institute of Company Secretaries of India has also announced its plans to partner with the University of Ladakh, wherein they will be able to award the “ICSI Signature Award” to the toppers in bachelor's degree examination in Commerce. As part of the award, the students will receive a Gold medal and a certificate.

The introduction of the fee waiver scheme by the institute will help in reducing the tension that the students from Jammu and Kashmir are facing due to the scrapping of Article 370. Along with the fee waiver scheme, the awards that will be granted by the institute will also help in motivating the students to pursue higher education from the region. Sources stated that such initiatives also help in providing the students with exposure and growth opportunities.
