IGNOU and ASCI Inks Pact to Launch New Educational and Training Programmes

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has been collaborating with various agencies, government and non-government to offer and develop specialised courses in different fields. Now, the varsity has signed a pact with ASCI (Agriculture Skills Council of India) to develop new training and educational programmes.

Giving more details about the agreement between IGNOU and ASCI, Vice Chancellor revealed that the varsity is trying to integrate skill-based and vocational programmes to match the potential of Start-Up India Programme, Skill India Mission and National Skill Qualification Framework. The collaboration will add value to the agriculture students and graduates.

Under this collaboration, IGNOU will use ASCI-developed NOS (National Occupational Standards) and QPs (Qualification Packs) to develop new training programmes and skill enhancement activities in agriculture for the students.

ASCI is a not-for-profit organisation formed under the aegis of MSDE (Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship). ASCI works for the enhancement of skills of people involved in agriculture including farmers, wage workers and others.

IGNOU is the only open university in the country that offers a wide range of certificate and diploma courses apart from UG and PG courses. The varsity offers six-month duration certificate courses in almost all the fields. On the other hand, the varsity allows students pursuing UG and PG courses take up a certificate course.

Admissions to IGNOU January 2018 session are open and interested candidates can submit the online application on or before January 31, 2018. The admission fee should be also paid online.
