IIE & Goldman Sachs Jointly Launch $1500 Scholarship Programme for Indian Women Students

Goldman Sachs, a popular and leading global investment bank and US-based Institute of International Education, also known as IIE, have jointly announced a unique programme for Indian women university students. This is applicable to only those female candidates who are pursuing education in the field of science and technology or related areas.

The programme will provide scholarship opportunities and mentorship to the selected women students.

Titled as the ‘WeTech Goldman Sachs Scholars’, the programme will select 25 women students who will be entitled to scholarships upto $1500 (roughly INR 97000) for the academic year of 2017-18. Apart from this, these candidates will also be connected to an experienced professional and mentor from investment bank Goldman Sachs for a period of six months starting June 2017 until December 2017. The winners of this programme will be announced in the month of June itself.

Objectives of the programme:

• To eliminate the gender gap which is prevalent the most in the technology industry by engaging women at various stages of their academic years.
• To provide young women real world experiences of pursuing a career in a STEM field so that they are equipped to thrive in a global workforce when they enter their full-time professional careers.
• As the technology industry all around the world needs more women to take leadership, this programme will educate and train women to conveniently work in teams in different countries and cultures.
