IIIT Delhi Team Wins Microsoft Imagine Cup India Finals
- RealVol team from IIT Delhi bagged the first spot in Imagine Cup India Finals.
- This year, the competition mostly focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and associated technologies.
The 16th edition of Imagine Cup organised by Microsoft India concluded on April 20, 2018. After a tough competition between the participating teams, IIIT Delhi, RV College of Engineering, Bangalore and Amity International School, Gurgaon emerged as the winners. RealVol team from IIIT Delhi bagged the first spot in the competition. The winning teams from all these three institutes will represent India at the Imagine Cup finals that will be held in the USA. The winners of the finals will be awarded a cash prize of $100,000 and a mentoring session with Satya Nadella.
This year, the competition is mostly focused on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and associated technologies like Chatbots and Cognitive Services. Over 60% entries received from participants were solutions powered by Artificial Intelligence. This year, the competition also witnessed the participation of girl students.

The three winning terms worked on following problems and provided necessary solutions: -
- IIIT Delhi team worked on virtual reality immersive view inside an MRI or CT scan. As per the solution provided the team, the user can navigate the 3D scan of the human body.
- The team from RV College of Engineering Bangalore worked on the area ‘DrugSafe’. A DrugSafe app has been developed so that users can verify the validity of drug.
- A team from Amity International School, Gurgaon worked on machine learning based assistant to help the differently abled communicate effectively.

Imagine Cup is a premier competition that allows student developers to make use of their creativity and passion to solve the real world problems and turn their ideas into reality. The competition is a true reflection of entrepreneurial capabilities of youth. Microsoft is playing a commendable role in helping these students with appropriate tools and skill sets so that they can turn their idea into a reality.
