IIM Ahmedabad Conducts Roadshow to Reach Out to North-East Students
- IIM Ahmedabad organises a roadshow to showcase its PGP-FABM for engaging north-east students.
- Course officers, notable Alumni of IIM Ahmedabad and over 200 students attended the interactive event to promote agri-business.
In a bid to reach out to students in the north-east region and educate them, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad organised a roadshow to present the post-graduate program in food and agri-business management (PGP-FABM) offered by the institute.
The event was conducted in two of the most prominent institutes in the north-east region i.e. Assam Agricultural University (AAU) in Jorhat, Assam and College of Agricultural Engineering and Post-Harvest Technology (CAEPHT) in Gangtok, Sikkim.
IIM Ahmedabad interacted with the students of these institutes regarding the PGP-FABM course and answered their queries. The institute was represented by Prof Ranjan Ghosh, Faculty at IIM Ahmedabad and one of the course officials who look after the day-to-day administration of this programme.
The roadshow at CAEPHT was conducted on August 14, 2017. IIM Ahmedabad was also represented by two of its illustrious alumni who are the natives of the north-east region. The two alumni were:
- Member of Parliament and Government representative from Sikkim, Mr. Prem Das Rai – Class of 1978
- Superintendent of Police, East Sikkim, Mr. Tenzing Lepcha – Class of 2009
The roadshow was attended by more than 200 students who were enlightened by Prof Ghosh regarding the importance of the role of food and agri-business sector in nation building and economic development.

Prof Ghosh also added that the country needs skilled managers in the agri-business sector who can devote themselves to the agri-food value chain, guarantee high profits and re-distribution among farmers.
The roadshow reached the Assam Agricultural University (AAU), Jorhat, on August 17, 2017. Prof Ghosh added that awareness initiatives and smart preparation can help the north-east students in securing admission in IIM Ahmedabad.

Students of these two north-east students said that they were not aware that IIM Ahmedabad offers such a dynamic management programme for students who have pursued education the field of agri-foods and agri-business. The roadshow opened a whole new direction in the field of management for these students.
