IIM Ahmedabad Drops Plan of Setting up Second Campus
With an objective to run short-term executive programmes, IIM-A is also planning to set up small engagement centres in metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi.
Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad has dropped its plans of having a second campus, and the institute is looking to restore the existing campus apart from adding capacity within the campus at an estimated cost of Rs. 75 crore. IIM-A is also planning to enhance online offerings in the coming years.
Earlier, IIM-A had explored the possibilities of having a second campus outside or within the country. The institute also had plans to add more classrooms and hostel facilities within the existing campus. The entire campus of IIM-A is spread over 100-acres.

With an objective to run short-term executive programmes, IIM-A is also planning to set up small engagement centres in metro cities like Mumbai and Delhi. These centres will have small classrooms, which be enough to run executive programmes of short durations. IIM-A is also planning to provide incubation facilities to local startups.

Ashish Nanda, Director of IIM-A, revealed that currently, they have dropped the idea of having a second campus as it is tough to replicate the culture and the environment. Instead, they have plans to establish engagement centres in Mumbai and Delhi.
He further added that IIM is also planning to double the capacity of classrooms, faculty and residential facilities in the coming years. Besides these developments, the institute will also have recreation, and sports facilities. Additionally, the School of Public Policy will have a new building.
With an objective to facilitate blended learning, IIM-A is also partnering with NIIT and Hughes Global Education.
