IIM Ahmedabad Honours Alumni at Young Achiever's Awards Event
- IIM Ahmedabad honored its alumni in civil services at 3rd IIM-A Young Alumni Achiever’s Award.
- The number of alumni joining the civil services goes up to 446.
- New PGP batch started early this week; will get the opportunity to meet these alumni.
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) graduates are very well known for achieving heights in the corporate world. However, on Thursday, 22nd June, at the third IIM-A Young Alumni Achiever’s Awards, the institute proudly revealed that so far 446 IIM-A alumni have joined civil services.
Two of these alumni, Rohan Chand Thakur (PGP, 2006 batch) who is the Deputy Commissioner of Shimla, Himachal Pradesh and Kartikeya Misra (PGP, 2004 batch) who is now the Collector of East Godavari in Andhra Pradesh along with five other alumni were honored at the event

Speaking on the occasion, Dean of Alumni and External Relations - Rakesh Basant said that this year the institute has given awards to the achievers in civil services along with the ones in various other categories like corporate entrepreneurship, sports, writing, and leadership.
He further informed that including the students who have opted for the short-duration programmes of 21 days in the institute, the total number of alumni joining the civil services goes up to 446. The list of the names of those successful alumni will soon be published in their alumni newsletter.
Misra, who joined Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the year 2008 with Jairam Ramesh, an Economist and Politician, has developed a food security project which will now be replicated across Andhra Pradesh. He expressed that the academic rigor of the varsity helped him to execute DEEPAM scheme through which around 1.75 lakh LPG connections were provided in less than sixty days.

Other successful achieves included Sucharita Mukherjee (IRMR Capital), Rahul Agarwal (Lenovo India), Yashish Dahiya (CEO of PolicyBazaar), Tulsi Naidu (Zurich Insurance) and Sudhir Sitapati (Hindustan Unilever). The new PGP batch which has started early this week will get an opportunity to meet these alumni.
