IIM Bangalore Faculty Members Selected for 'Teaching Innovator Award'
- Professor P.C. Narayan, Professor P.D Jose and Professor Ramya Ranganathan of IIM Bangalore are among the 15 faculty members selected for the Teaching Innovator Award.
- MHRD will conduct a special ceremony to present the awards.
Professor P.C. Narayan, a faculty from Finance and Accounting at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-Bangalore) has been selected for the ‘Teaching Innovator Award 2016’ by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India. A special ceremony will be conducted by MHRD to present ‘Teaching Innovator Award 2016’ soon.
The teaching idea that has brought laurels to the institute and specifically for Professor Narayan was “Transforming from a Teacher-Centric to a Student-Centric Classroom and Online Learning". The idea involved the creative use of his 120 plus Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) videos in a 'Flipped Classroom’ format taught at IIM Bangalore.

Along with Professor Narayan, Professor P.D Jose (faculty from Strategy area at IIM Bangalore) and Professor Ramya Ranganathan (faculty from Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Management at IIM Bangalore) were also selected for the ‘Teaching Innovation Award 2016’. A total number of 15 finalists were selected for the award with IIM Bangalore being the only institute from where three faculty members have been shortlisted for the award.

MHRD received over 300 applications for the ‘Teaching Innovator Award 2016’. Out of these, 50 were shortlisted during the second stage of selection and shortlisting process. During the final stage, only 15 of them made it for the award.
Recently, IIM Bangalore launched Indo-Japanese study centre to facilitate student-exchange programme, take up joint research activities and faculty exchange. The study centre is expected to play a vital role in bringing out a new era in research with the help of latest technology.
