IIM Bangalore Proposes to Issue Graduation Certificates in Hindi; Students Oppose
- PG students of IIM Bangalore claim that the authorities had directed them to validate their names in Hindi that will be printed on graduation certificates.

Students of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore are shocked after the authorities directed them to validate their names in Hindi that will be printed on graduation certificates. Postgraduate students of IIM Bangalore are not happy with the decision of authorities. However, the authorities of the premier institute clarified that the institute had not imposed any such rule on students. Discussions are being carried out in this regard and the issue will be sorted out soon.
Highly dissatisfied with the decision of IIM Bangalore, a PG student expressed that if the certificates are issued in Hindi language, students applying to international/ foreign universities would face a serious issue. Foreign varsities will not understand the Hindi language, he added.

Revealing the facts, he mentioned that the authorities had directed to validate their names in Hindi mentioned in the Google Excel Sheet by January 31, 2018. The authorities also sent an official e-mail to students in this regard, he explained.
The officials of IIM Bangalore further clarified that they received views and opinions from students. Some students were not in favour of the proposed idea. The premier institute will not take any decision without holding proper consultations with students and internal stakeholders. All the concerns of students will be addressed internally without giving scope for protests, the authorities confirmed.

The convocation ceremony of IIM Bangalore is scheduled to take place in the second/ third week of March 2018.
