IIM Bangalore Hosts Digital Governance Summit
- IIM-B's Centre for Corporate Government & Citizenship organised a Digital Governance Summit.
- Participants included Mr. Shivakumar, Chairman of PepsiCo India, and Mr. Anand Karipalu, CEO & Chairman of United Spirits Limited etc.
IIM Bangalore’s Centre for Corporate Government and Citizenship organised a Digital Governance Summit in collaboration with Academy for Innovation and Management. It was a C-Level summit that aimed at discussions with respect to the ways one can design and implement digital governance in a company. The summit took place on May 15, 2017. Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore focused on figuring out solutions for accelerating digital transformation at senior levels.
Prof. Anil. B. Suraj of Centre for Public Policy at IIM Bangalore flagged off the summit by highlighting the key points that the government must keep in mind while adopting digital governance. He also explained various ways of achieving digital transformation. Prof. Anil was of the opinion that the government cannot regulate the system as there is a need to set up an independent regulatory authority.

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Head of the Digital India initiative of the government pointed that transformation is a difficult task. Complete digital transformation is a challenging task to achieve in businesses as well as government. Digital India is one of the initiatives of the government that will bring change. However, immediate results or change is not possible within a short period. Therefore, the government needs to focus on adopting digital technology and use it to transform the way it has been doing things.

Eminent personalities took part in the C-Level panel discussion. Mr. Shivakumar, Chairman of PepsiCo India, and Mr. Anand Karipalu, CEO & Chairman of United Spirits Limited took part in the discussion. They figured out probable ways to design and implement digital governance in a company. The panel also focused on building a purposeful, responsible and sustainable business.
