IIM Bangalore PGP 2017 Batch Begins, 80% Batch Has Work Experience
- The institute enrolled over 405 students for PGP and 23 students for FPM.
- Around 80% candidates who enrolled to PGP batch of IIM Bangalore have work experience.
- Surprisingly, 88% students are from the engineering background and 50% students from IITs and NITs.
The PGP (Post Graduate Programme) and FPM (Fellowship Programme in Management) for the academic year 2017-18 have begun at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM Bangalore) on June 15, 2017. The institute enrolled over 405 students for PGP and 23 students for FPM. Around 80% candidates who enrolled to PGP batch of IIM Bangalore have work experience. Surprisingly, 88% students are from the engineering background and 50% students are from IITs (Indian Institutes of Technology) and NITs (National Institutes of Technology).
Chairperson of Admissions & Financial Aid, Mr. Rajendra K. Bandi revealed that they tried to bring the best batch, and hoped for an enriching and exciting journey for all.

This year, the PGP programme also registered the candidates who have the background in Commerce, CS, ICWA and CA. The average score in Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) stood at 737. Majority of the students enrolled for PGP programme have GMAT scores ranging from 720 to 760. Few students also have an average international work experience of three years.

Common Admission Test (CAT) is the important criterion for the admission to PGP programme at Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. However, the institute considers various other factors while shortlisting the candidates. Past work experience, academic achievements, extracurricular achievements, social sensitivity and others are some factors considered by the institute. The objective of IIM Bangalore is to have students with well-rounded abilities.
The selection of students made by the institute for the academic year 2017-18 reveals that it has given more preference to the candidates who have work experience.
