Narayana Murthy to be the Chief Guest at IIM Calcutta’s 54th Convocation

The Indian Institute of Management - IIM Calcutta is all set to hold its 54th convocation on 6th April 2019 at its campus. According to a statement issued by IIM Calcutta, the convocation ceremony will be graced by the business tycoon and co-founder of Infosys, Nagavara Ramarao Narayana Murthy.

Coming to the number of degrees being awarded to the IIM Calcutta students at the 54th convocation, the total number is 623 among which, a total of 453 degrees will be in 2-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) course which will be given to 141 female and 312 male students of the course. The Institute will also award a total of 66 Flagship Post-Graduate program degree (1 year MBA for Executive) to 6 females and 60 male students on the mentioned date.

The institute will give away another 38 degrees to 6 female and 32 male students of Post Graduate Diploma in PGPEX VLM (Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing). The PGDBA (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analysis) will be given to 52 students out of which, 10 are female and 42 male.

The Ph.D. degrees will also be given to the successful Ph.D. fellowship students of Indian Institute of Management - IIM Calcutta. The eminent institute will award a total of 14 doctoral research (Ph.D.) degree to 7 female and 7 male students studying in the institute.

IIM Calcutta recently came up with the decision of renaming PGPEX (Post Graduate Program for Executives) degree to MBA for Executives degree for increased acceptability worldwide. The Institute of IIM Calcutta is most likely to give away an ‘MBA for executive’ degree to the students who completed the Post Graduate Program for Executives (PDPEX) course in the previous year.
