IIM-Calcutta Introduces PG Certificate in Healthcare Management
Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta has introduced Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management (PGCHM). It is a one-year residential course and is tailor-made for the health practitioners and administrators.
Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta has introduced Post Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Management (PGCHM). It is a one-year residential course and is tailor-made for the health practitioners and administrators.
The course includes classroom-based educational modules with hands-on experience through industry immersion programmes. The course also focuses on the network of healthcare service providers which would facilitate an efficient delivery of the programme in both dimensions, i.e., field-based and academic learning.

The objective of the course is to train the participants in managerial leadership. Through this course, the students will be familiar with entrepreneurship and innovation in Indian healthcare sector which sensitises the participants with macro policy context both national and global through inculcating competitive framework.
Prof. Uttam Kumar Sarkar, Dean of New Initiatives & External Relations, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta explained that the programme aims to meet the challenges and profession demands by augmenting the grossly inadequate availability of healthcare management professionals and training them formally in fundamentals of management principles and practices.
The programme consists of two main components which include capstone projects and classroom-based on-campus teaching as well as off-campus industry immersion. The faculty and professionals from the healthcare industry will guide the students.

The admissions to the first batch are likely to commence in the last week of November or first week of December 2016, and the classes will begin from April 2017.
The candidates who are interested in seeking admission to PGCHM must have two years professional experience in the healthcare sector. Th applicants must also possess MBBS/BDS/BAMS degree.
