IIM Calcutta Admissions for TSW Women’s Leadership Programme Open Now

Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta has announced a collaboration with Times Professional Learning (TPL) for launching a leadership programme for women who are working in managerial roles. The programme has been named ‘Transitioning into Leadership: A Programme for Women Executives’. The main objective of this leadership programme is to encourage the working women to understand and appreciate the challenges prevalent in taking up leadership roles in various organisations. The programme will build confidence in women and prepare them for leadership roles. Today, inadequate representation of women in various sectors, specifically in leadership roles is the major concern in corporate India.

Even though there are a number of prominent women CEOs across various industries, a vast majority of women professionals do not try to jump to the corporate ladder beyond a certain point. Many women who possess exceptional leadership skills are stuck in middle management roles. Due to various reasons, these women are not taking up leadership roles and are compromising with middle management roles.

The Women Leadership Programme (WPL) offered by IIM Calcutta in collaboration with Times Professional Learning will be a significant step in providing necessary techniques, tools and leadership qualities to women. The programme further develops the decision-making skills among the women.

The Women Leadership Programme will lay emphasis on three main objectives including: -

• Engaging in a dialogue with women managers and enabling them to raise issues. The major focus will also be on strategies for dealing with factors that hinder the growth of women.
• Equipping the women with insights into necessary competencies for transitioning into leadership and enable them to identify a personal development plan.
• Enabling women to understand different functional areas with an objective to enhance their general management skills.

IIM Calcutta will offer seven modules at the state-of-art learning centres of Times Professional learning. The duration of the programme is 11 months which will have a total of 50 sessions. Workshops, case studies and lectures are also a part of this programme. The programme will focus on both theoretical insights and applied skills. This year, the programme will begin in November.
