CAT Exam 2022 Slot 1 has concluded. The exam was held from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in a computer-based format. There were no major issues at various exam centres and server issues as well. Here are the reactions/ reviews of test takers on CAT Exam 2022 Slot 1:A few test takers who took the CAT exam in 2020, 2021 and 2022, have shared section-wise insights including:
VARC: The difficulty level was the same although a new pattern was seen this year.
DILR: It was more difficult than 2021 and 2021.
QA: Three major types of questions were asked this year - Algebra, Arithmetic and Number Theory.
There were 24 questions from VARC, 20 Questions from DILR, and 22 from Quantitative Aptitude.
This was the first time that questions based on para completion (2 questions) in VARC were seen.
Topics on which Reading Comprehension was based include 'Ghosts and their Mysteries', 'How Chinese Copy Things or Articles?' '2 Levels of Emotional Thinking' and 'Stoicism'.
The overall difficulty level of CAT Slot 1 2022 was ‘Moderate’.
- As per the first reactions, there were 66 questions overall.
The difficulty level of VARC was Moderate, DILR was quite tough, and Quantitative Aptitude was Easy to Moderate.
- As conceptual questions were asked in QA, students are saying that those with clear concepts will be able to save time.
In QA, while 8 questions were asked on arithmetic, there were 2-3 based on algebra. The same adds up to around 11-12 scorable questions. 3 questions were also seen on Ratio, Profit/Loss, and Percentage.
Questions based on tokens and arrangements and sports arrangements were asked in DILR.
- In VARC, para summary/para jumble questions were asked and they were very easier compared to last year. In addition, 3 of 4 questions were on philosophy. Topics for para jumbles included 'Fish Skin' and 'Managers Working from Home vs Office'.
In relation to Quantitative Aptitude, it had a more logical approach, no lengthy calculations, and simple cancel-out value questions.
As compared to CAT 2020, CAT 2022 Slot 1 DILR was more time-consuming.
Not many questions were asked from Number System; only 1-2 were asked.
Students faced challenges in attempting MCQs due to negative marking.
There were no odd-1-out questions. Students observed 2 new types of questions in the VARC section.
As compared to last year, the CAT 2022 VARC section of Slot 1 was about 5% easier.
Non-MCQ questions were a bit difficult.
There was a question on ‘Line Graph’ along with 'Games and Tournaments - Venn Diagram'
All in all, the paper was not highly difficult and at the same time, it was not too easy.
There were 5 questions from 'Geometry’.
10 questions from Quantitative Aptitude seemed easy as per the first reaction received.
