IIM Kozhikode to Grant Full Fee Waiver to Top Ranked Candidates
IIM Kozhikode is to grant a full tuition fee waiver to its top-ranked students. The tuition fee waiver will be given to the top 12 candidates of the Postgraduate Programme of the institute.
The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode has announced that it will give a full tuition fee waiver to students who secure top ranks. The institute is taking this initiative in order to have more inclusivity in its classrooms. The diversity among these candidates with top ranks will be spread across categories of males, females, Scheduled Tribes (ST), Scheduled Castes (SC), Non-Creamy layer and Other Backward Classes (NC and OBC), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
The premier business school has taken another step in its efforts towards rationalising fees with this initiative. IIM Kozhikode had also lowered its tuition fee by an amount of Rs. 30,000 in the year 2012.

The institute has decided to give full tuition fee waiver to the candidates who have secured the top 12 ranks and will be joining the Postgraduate Programme (PGP) of IIM Kozhikode this June. It will be done in the same way for candidates of all categories. As per the applications, students from the states of Delhi, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Telangana will be joining the PGP course at IIM Kozhikode this year.
The Director of IIM Kozhikode, Debashis Chatterjee, said that the institute does not only celebrate talent but it also ensures greater diversity. The institute has about 10 percent of students who have the annual family income of Rs. 1 lakh or less. These students are protected from the steep increase in fee as most of them opt to take loans for their education.

A full fee waiver is granted to one percent of the students who have proven their record of excellence in sports, academics, social activities or extracurricular activities via recognition or awards at the international or national level. A full fee waiver is also granted to children of martyrs who belonged to the paramilitary, military or police force. A half fee waiver is given to students who are the children of people of defence or allied services who got injured when they were in action and hence lost their capability to earn.
