IIM Kozhikode Starts Doctoral Management Prog for Working Professionals
IIM Kozhikode launches a Ph.D. research program for working executives to allow them to pursue their doctoral degree under IIM Kozhikode without taking a leave from their jobs. The schedule has been kept flexible for the executives.
Indian Institute of Management - IIM Kozhikode has recently launched a Ph.D. in Management degree (practice track) for working professionals. In this course, the Indian Institute of Management - IIM Kozhikode is giving the working professionals an opportunity to complete their Ph.D. without leaving their jobs.
The prestigious management institute received over 400 applications with an acceptance rate of less than 4 percent. The students selected for IIM Kozhikode Doctoral Programme In Management For Working Executives hold senior positions in leading companies such as Havells, KPMG, ICICI Securities and others. The average experience of doctoral students is 15 years.
Director of IIM Kozhikode, Debasish Chatterjee told the media that this is the first time in India that the institute is conducting Ph.D. in the form of Practice Track. He also added that working professionals have an upper hand in the Doctoral course as they have the ability to incorporate real-life corporate issues in their research segment and find the solution being into the knowledge system.
The Dean of Indian Institute of Management - IIM Kozhikode Mr. Rudra Sen Sarma said that to accommodate the busy work life schedule of an executive, the design of the doctoral Ph.D. course in Management has been kept flexible. The duration range of the Ph.D. for Executives in Management is kept between 3 to 5 years.
The Ph.D. research program does not only provide scope for research on the strategy, economy or finance which are considered as the mainstream subjects of Management but it also offers to conduct research under multidisciplinary subject like Banking, Manufacturing, Sports, and Tourism which are allowed to participants on the basis of their interest areas.

IIMs across the countries are on a spree to renovate and introduce new courses in their curriculum for the changing needs of the industry. The path was paved by IIM Bangalore, IIM Ahmedabad, and IIM Calcutta.

The entire program can be completed in 3-5 years. The course will allow the candidates to pursue research specialisation just not in conventional management areas but also in interdisciplinary specialisations sich as sports, tourism, and others.
