IIM Lucknow Likely to Set Up Business School in Kathmandu
- Addressing the students at the 32nd Convocation of IIM Lucknow, Director Mr Arjit Prasad detailed various initiatives to be taken by the institute.
- At present, IIM Lucknow is in talks with Ministry of External Affairs to set up a B-School in Kathmandu.
Director of IIM Lucknow, Mr. Arjit Prasad officially announced that the institute is planning to set up a B-School in Kathmandu. He was addressing the students at the 32nd convocation ceremony when he revealed that the authorities of IIM Lucknow are in talks with Ministry of External Affairs with respect to this initiative. The premier management institute is looking for some sort of funding to set up a business school in Kathmandu.
Mr. Arjit Prasad also indicated that IIM Lucknow would soon launch an ‘Executive Education Programme’ in Middle East countries like Dubai that will also initiate the process of setting up campuses aboard. Former Director, Devi Singh mentioned that more b-school campuses will also be set up in countries like Canada, Malaysia and Mauritius. Even though proposals had been made by Devi Singh in this regard, they have not been materialised so far, he explained.

Adding further, Mr. Arjit Prasad announced that IIM Lucknow is planning to launch courses on ethics and human values. From the next session, the postgraduate curriculum will have a new course/ subject titled ‘Human Values and Responsible Citizenship’. IIM Lucknow is the first B-School in the country to launch such course, he highlighted.
Director of IIM Lucknow stated that the institute would focus on four major aspects including: -
- Training
- Consulting
- Teaching
- Research
He also highlighted that IIM Lucknow will include research-based and contemporary management courses like ‘Behavioural Economics’, ‘Experiential Learning’ and ‘Framing Identities and Roles through Exploration’. These courses are neither regular textbook based nor classroom-based courses, he explained.

Mr. Arjit Prasad gave details about the joint training programme of IIM Lucknow and World Bank. The training programme will be on ‘bank’s procurement processes. So far, the joint programme has been able to attract participants from India, Afghanistan and Myanmar.
Motivating the students, Mr. Arjit Prasad concluded that it is unnecessary to think about the past and one must find his path and destiny while focusing on the future.
